A pendant is an ornament which is suspended from another piece of jewellery such as a neck chain or necklace. Pendants come in many forms, including pearls or large gems, cameos, lockets, amulets or crosses. Amulets as pendants have been more crucial as being one of the first forms of jewellery in the prehistoric era. In the early 21st century, amulets as pendants gained huge popularity as good luck charms, talismans, and as protection from all evil and supernatural forces. Pendants are usually made to be detachable so that they can be used on different necklaces. They are sometimes made with a pin-back so that they can also be worn as a brooch.
